Peace One Day’s aim is to institutionalise Peace Day across the world so it becomes self-sustaining. As a key driver towards the institutionalisation of Peace Day, Peace One Day is calling for and working towards a day of ceasefire and non-violence on Peace Day 21 September 2012 - a Global Truce.

Through film: A fourth film is now in production. The film will focus on the institutionalisation of Peace Day around the world and the call for a Global Truce on Peace Day 21 September 2012. Through education: Peace One Day Education aims to advance active learning in the areas of conflict resolution, global citizenship, human rights and the link between sustainability and peace, using Peace Day 21 September as a focus. Our goal is to provide free resource materials to every school on earth, inspiring a generation to become the driving force behind the vision of a united and sustainable world. Through football: One Day One Goal initiative aims to encourage football (soccer) matches all over the world on Peace Day. Teams are often created with a mix of players from different cultures or communities. One Day One Goal matches celebrate cooperation, unity and the power of football to bring people together on Peace Day. Through live events: To date, Peace One Day has produced six high-profile music-driven celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall, London, Brixton Academy, London, Le Grand Rex, Paris and Le Zenith, Paris, featuring musicians such as Lenny Kravitz, Annie Lennox, Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens), Bryan Adams, Peter Gabriel, John Legend, Kasabian, Kate Nash, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dave Stewart, Jimmy Cliff, Marc Almond, Faithless, James Morrison, Starsailor, Patti Smith, Charlie Winston, Youssou Ndour, Vanessa Paradis, -M-, Ayo and Yodelice as well as special guests and hosts such as Jude Law, Sharon Stone, Jonny Lee Miller and Emilia Fox, and inspirational video inserts and messages. Through you: Peace Day (and the Global Truce on Peace Day 2012) is not only about creating peace between nations, it’s about non-violence in our homes, communities and schools. Peace Day is therefore relevant to every human being on the planet and each of us has a role to play. Ultimately it is your support that will help make it a reality. As Ahmad Fawzi (former Director of News Media at the UN) said at our launch in 1999, ‘It is the peoples of this world who can create peace.’ If we want a united world then it is up to every single one of us to become involved in the process; Peace Day 21 September is the starting point.
